Working in the creative ad industry, the announcement of DALL-E and other Artificial Intelligence Art softwares caused me to have a single knee-jerk reaction:

“Fuck, I’m screwed.”

And I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking this.

Deep down, I think we all fear that a machine will somehow replace our value to society. So it's easy to look at some beautiful pieces of AI-generated art and quickly feel like your value as an artist, or digital creator, just went down the toilet.

However, after learning more about this new development in AI technology, I soon realized it was a hallow threat to the career of current artists. Here’s why.

Why Artists Shouldn't Fear AI-Generated Art

Once I got past my initial reaction, I searched for the practical use of these software programs and quickly realized there really wasn't one.

Yes, you can make nice-looking pieces of art and post them to Twitter while calling yourself an artist (more on that below). And yes, you might even be cheeky enough to win an art contest.
